“I was at a very low point when I met Katrina, and it wouldn’t be long before I would need serious help.

My husband, our two young sons, and I had just moved into a new place. In the backyard, there was a small living quarters, for which we had no use. It was only a matter of weeks before Katrina and her family were living in our back pocket, so to speak, entering into the life of our family on a daily basis.

I didn’t know my distress showed. I didn’t know it was obvious that I was barely hanging on. I thought I hid it well, though I’m sure at times the cracks I perceived to be only small fractures were more like compound, splintering breaks rupturing through my composure for all to see. I desperately needed help.

Every day Katrina would come into our home and read to me from the Word of God showing me how good, full, complete, and free His love for me was, and how little I had understood Him. She showed me my tremendous worth using the very words I had always used for self-condemnation. I had missed the heart of the Father. I didn’t need to earn His love and acceptance. My seat at the table was permanently reserved, even if I didn’t help make the dinner. I was welcome. Katrina helped open my eyes."

I truly believe Katrina saved my life. I know the direction I was heading. I was on the road toward death in every sense of the word. If the Lord had not sent her, I’m uncertain if I would be here to write this today over twenty years later. My gratitude is something I cannot measure.“

Since 2005, we had met this wonderful, beautiful and amazing person whose name is Katrina. I would never forget the first time that I met her at my wife’s work, she had that special smile on her face. From that time until now after entering into my family and my life it has been a complete blessing. Katrina is for me more than a friend, she is my sister. She has been a supporter of my family and me for all these years and we are so thankful to God for that. I know Katrina as a person who is always helping others no matter who the person may be. Always Katrina has words of encouragement in any situation we may be passing through. Katrina is one of the sweetest people I ever met and what she did and is doing for me and my family there is no way we could ever pay for. Thank you Katrina for everything you have done for us and we pray that God will continue blessing you in everything you do. Katrina is a very special and spiritual person, as a pastor, I testify of her dedication to the Lord. She is a woman of prayer and a lover of the Word of God. But overall she has shown over time that Christianity is not just a word, but living as Christ did. With her life, she definitely testifies that Christ dwells in her. As a pastor, I have learned a lot of good lessons from my Christian friend Katrina.

“Meeting Katrina in 2006 I was immediately drawn in by her kind, loving, curious, and supportive being. Since then, she’s been unwavering in her support of me and an impeccable guide in all matters of Love. She’s given me tools I use daily, she’s walked by my side and guided me through truly horrific life circumstances. Katrina is a one-of-a-kind woman and I will cherish her soul, heart, and wisdom for the rest of my life. Words cannot accurately portray my gratitude for her presence in my life. She is the closest person that I know to live the words of Jesus–that is, to be love in action in every moment of every day.”

“I have known Katrina for many years now, and she is one of the most consistently supportive and unconditional human beings I've ever come across. I have experienced her whole-hearted presence in my life, but I have also witnessed how she has supported many others in this way. Katrina has supported me through some of the darkest hours of my life, and she even took me into her home when I left a very difficult period of my life. She understood some of my emotional needs far better than I could at the time and helped create a safe space for healing and self-acceptance. She encouraged connections that grew into a beautiful support network and was a firm believer in my ability to heal and love again. I will never be distant from this beautiful soul as the lessons we learned together have united us forever and much of the life I love now was being built through those lessons.”

“The Summer of ‘85 was a very memorable one. I attended my church’s youth camp in Orr, Minnesota marking the farthest east I’ve ever traveled in the Continental United States. That may sound trivial, but for a kid from Honolulu, Hawaii, it was kind of a big deal. There were a couple of key people I met that I kept in contact with and who were instrumental as I navigated my teenage and early adulthood years—blessings that reverberate even now. One of those people was Katrina.

We met after the first week of the camp when her dorm invited mine for refreshments before church service. Afterwards, we walked around the camp site sharing our respective lives—parents, siblings, school, et al. She was/is a great listener and she was very easy to talk to. After camp was over, we kept in touch the only way we could: letters. It gave me wings during my turbulent high school years.

Over time and distance, the letters that we wrote one another became weekly and then monthly until they simply stopped. It wasn’t until decades later—after I moved to her home state of Colorado—that we reconnected through Facebook. Although still miles apart, the internet and direct messaging allowed us to correspond almost in real-time, and it allowed us to almost pick up where we left off. It didn’t take us long to catch up and it was refreshing to hear another teen from the same church had survived and was thriving in a healthy relationship with God. The church we grew up in was difficult for children.

To have witnessed the early stages of her walk and to now see the maturation of it is a testament to the amazing love of our Heavenly Father. Katrina has allowed God to mold her into a wise counselor to all He has set before and around her. It is clearly evident that her pursuit of His kingdom drives everything she does. Katrina is the perfect example of an Ambassador for Christ.”
